ARCHITECTURE STUDENT INTERNSHIP

Bamboo Living is looking for an enthusiastic intern to support our fast-growing bamboo architecture firm! Spend a semester on the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii and gain hands-on experience working with our innovative bamboo design techniques! Bamboo Living Homes are the first and only code-certified permittable bamboo structures in the world. Since 1995, we have proudly designed and permitted more than 350 bamboo homes in the Hawaiian Islands and other beautiful locations around the world. As an intern, you’ll collaborate with our small – but amazing – team and contribute to the project’s design, logistics, and coordination. Join a team where conscious, creative minds call home.

Responsibilities:

  • 2D floor plan design and development in Sketchup and Layout

  • 3D model design and development in Sketchup and Layout

  • Shop drawing dimensioning and labeling in Layout

  • Organizing, cleaning, managing groups and components in 3D models

  • Collecting and organizing 3D assets

  • Assisting in creating animation camera paths, renderings and 3D panorama building walkthroughs for client presentations. (Enscape and Sketchup)

  • Updating plans based on red lines and markups from architect and client

  • Reporting progress and tracking time daily in project management software (Monday.com)

  • Presenting design solutions and ideas to fulfill project intent

 

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Current student with excellent academic standing in 3rd or 4th year working toward a degree in architecture

  • Skilled in SketchUp and Layout

  • Strong graphic sensibility with examples

  • Ability to work in a team setting

  • Professional, approachable, and a team player

  • Takes constructive criticism well

  • Exceptional people person with excellent verbal and written communication

  • Enthusiasm for solving problems in the built world and curiosity about how things work

  • Passionate about sustainable living, green buildings, and beautiful architecture

 

This is a full-time, paid internship with work hours scheduled from Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm. The internship’s location is Pahoa, Hawaii on the Big Island of Hawaii. This is not a remote opportunity. No up-front relocation costs are provided. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US.
