Bamboo Resort Houses Stand up to Hurricanes
In February 2005, a unprecedented series of 3 cyclones (hurricanes in the southern hemisphere) smashed into South Pacific Islands from American Samoa to the Cook Islands. After Cyclones Meena and Nancy raked Rarotonga with hurricane winds, Olaf coincided with hide tides and forced waves 100 meters inland, demolishing buildings along the west coast of Rarotonga.
